The Municipality of Larnaca places special emphasis on the traditional Orthodox tradition of Tsiknopempti. It offers Cypriot delicacies and plenty of drinks to the citizens, marking the beginning of the Great Lent.
In the following days, the tradition of revelry, masquerade, and dressing up continues with the Children’s Carnival Parade. Citizen groups, schools, kindergartens, and organized ensembles of the city participate in the parade.
The culmination of the celebrations is the feast that follows at the excursion area of Tekke on Clean Monday. The Municipality offers traditional Lenten dishes to the citizens. The feast is accompanied by a rich artistic program, Cypriot traditional games, and competitions.
