Visual Artist and owner of Spyra Art Interactive Studio and Art Space
Spyrοs Agathou was born in Nicosia. He hails from Larnaca, where he lives and works.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts “Pietro Vannucci” in Perugia, Italy. There, he pursued a four-year program in Painting, graduating with honors. In 2003, he was accepted for postgraduate studies in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. He attended the Department of Theory and Practice of Contemporary Arts.
In 2002, he was honored with an award at the Engraving Competition “3rd Premio Giovanni Biella per l’incisione 2002” in Italy. In November 2010, he was awarded an honorable mention by the University of Cyprus and the “Telemachos Kanthos” Foundation for his participation in the Telemachos Kanthos Visual Arts Competition, for his engraving work. In November 2014, he won the 2nd Engraving Prize in the same competition.
In October 2007, he presented his first solo exhibition titled “MIMNISKO” at the Cyprus Gallery Corner, and in 2016, at the same Gallery, his second titled “MIMNISKO II”. In collaboration with the visual artist Antonis Tziarridis in 2021, they presented the visual proposal “DUOLOGUE” at the Diatopos Center of Contemporary Art, and in 2023 the visual proposal “Inside – out stories” at the Pierides Museum – Cultural Foundation Bank of Cyprus.
