Visual Artist – Painter
Maria Papa originates from Cyprus. She holds a degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Advanced Information Technologies from the University of Cyprus. Currently, she works as an IT Officer in the Public Sector.
Her passion for painting led her to attend painting classes at the Art Studio of Cypriot painter Nicolas Panagis in 2019, where she now captures people, landscapes, and beautiful or unique moments/scenes. Her works are characterized by symmetry and vibrant, vivid colors depicted with acrylics on canvas. Some of her pieces incorporate materials such as oils, gouache, chalks, charcoal, pastels, and pencil, either on canvas or paper.
Through her art, she enables viewers to engage with the stories hidden in each subject and the harmony of the settings. She has participated in exhibitions held in Cyprus, Greece (Athens), England (London), and the United States (New York).
She has also illustrated two books (one fairy tale and one poetry collection) by Cypriot folk poet Antonis Gabriel Papa.
