Musician – Composer
Vassilis Philippou, after studying piano and composition at the Royal Holloway University of London, continued his postgraduate studies at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. He completed two research studies on the topics of the relationship between sound and space and the music of the Mediterranean as an influence on classical composition. His compositions are influenced by European classical music as well as the traditions of the eastern Mediterranean, expressing his artistic concerns as they are formed through interaction with humanity and the environment. He has released two solo albums, “Sol Aurorae – The Sun of Dawn” (2021) and “Colourful Emptiness” (2022), while in 2023 he participated in Odysseas Toumazou’s album “Origins” on vocals and percussion.
