Matosian’s practice involves paintings that deal with subject matter rooted in daily life that feels both familiar and puzzling. A sense of precariousness emanates from the way these forms co-exist and assume their sense of place on the canvas. Matosian’s work attempts to make these forms visible through the process of observation as well as the process of working from memory, and to ground oneself in relation to them.
