This Committee is chaired by Mrs Despina Pastou Mangani, Municipal Councillor.
It promotes and promotes cultural creation and development and activities that enhance the quality of life of the citizens and diverse, multicultural artistic and intellectual development.
The Commission shall deal with all cultural matters referred to it by the Council or the Mayor and, as a priority, with the following:
– Organisation of the annual Pancyprian Festival of Athenian Products.
– Lectures in cooperation with the University of Cyprus, the Pedagogical Institute and other institutions.
– Exhibitions of books, paintings, photography, etc., with the University of Cyprus, the Institute of Education, the University of Cyprus, the Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, the University of Education and the University of Cyprus.
– Organization of events in cooperation with the schools of the Municipality e.g. competition of the best exhibition for the upgrading of the cultural movement, suggestions for the improvement of the quality of life in the Municipality, etc.
– Organisation of theatre and film performances in the Municipality.
– Organization of concerts with Cypriot and especially young musicians.
– Organisation of concerts, memorials for the fallen, torch-lighting, literary memorials, etc.
– Celebration of national anniversaries such as the parade of 25 March, 1 April, 28 October and the anniversary of 1 October, etc.
– Other commemorative events such as the celebration of letters, Mother’s Day, World Drug Day, etc.
– Organization of Christmas and Easter Events, aiming at the continuation and acquaintance with the customs and traditions of the place.
