The Zenon Free University has been operating in Larnaka for over 25 years. It is jointly organized by the Municipality of Larnaka, the University of Cyprus, and the Progressive Movement of Larnaka, with the support of the Cyprus Radio Foundation.
It consists of a series of scientific lectures open to the general public, providing an opportunity for education and information on various topics of general or special interest.
The topics are selected based on strict criteria to cover all aspects of social, economic, political, religious, historical, etc., aspects of Larnaka and the wider region, as well as broader and global issues such as economics, medicine, ecology, etc.
Speakers are mainly members of the Teaching and Research Staff of the University of Cyprus, as well as members of foreign universities, as well as trained specialists from various Research Centers, scientific organizations, and other bodies.
At the end of each lecture series, the Municipality of Larnaka and the University of Cyprus award certificates of attendance in a modest ceremony to those who attend the lectures.
The lectures take place at the House of Letters and Arts and are broadcasted nationwide live on the Cyprus Radio’s First Program.
